February 2014 Meeting Minutes

February 5, 2014 - 7:10pm, 12 Members in Attendance

OLD BUSINESS
1. Minutes from Jan. were read and reviewed .. Minutes adopted and passed by members..
2. Treasurer report given & passed by membership.
3. Advertising/sponsorship on Club trailer was discussed..Only Competition Ins. & Lesco to be received.. The Sponsorship fee is $100 and up.
4. The swap meet idea was discussed and No further decisions were made. Final discussion to be made at the March meeting..
5. The Club raffle is underway, most of the membership have tickets to sell.. The prizes are purchased..
                WE NEED ALL MEMBERS TO ACTIVELY SELL THEIR TICKETS !!!
6. Club will have a table at Red Deer to promote the Club & raffle...
7. Club elections were made and results are : Roy M Club Prez, Daymion W. V.P, Treasurer Jim K., Club membership Don C. ( Gene B. to assist) the club secretary will be open ( any given member at a meeting will be called upon to record the meeting)

NEW BUSINESS
1. Our website recorded 1380 hits for the month of January, which is pretty good for offseason. The number is up from 800 in December. 
2. Our club received 20 double guest passes for the Movie “Need for Speed” Preview on Feb 19th by Dreamworks/Disney Prod... We received 10 responses for these passes. Email was to be sent out to all members to reserve their passes to Jim..
3. If possible Jim K to look into getting 10 X 6 inch “club patch” done.. May have info on this at March Meeting...
4. Shop tour at Fountain Tire ( 82st/Yellowhead Tr.) is being planned.. Jim to arrange this and pass on further info @ March Meeting.
5. Require Volunteers to work at the club’s table in Red Deer on March 22/2014.. Please contact Jim if you can help out..
6. Waiting for the Dayton Valley people to contact us on their Swap Meet in April..
7. We are confirmed for the Antique swap meet in May @ Red Deer, we have a location for the trailer plus 3 tables..
8. Don C. had a discussion about a Cruise to Ma Me O beach to attend a Dance with a Oldies band playing.. Further discussion at March Meeting..
9. Another 1/64 scale Drag race is slated for all club members and their guests for the April meeting,  $ 5.00 entry fee..
 
                                      50/50 was won by Gene B. & 2nd prize won by Jim K.
           Meeting over at 8:30  Next meeting March 5th @ BlackJack’s Roadhouse.. Nisku AB @ 7:00 p.m
            Note: Kellen K had two DVD’s to show after the meeting ( history of Drag Racing in Edmonton & Old footage from the days at Speedway Park) that he produced..

January 2014 Meeting Minutes

The Edmonton & Area 567 Club January meeting minutes Jan.8/2014
Called to order- 7:10 P.M 11 Members in Attendance

1. Minutes from November meeting were read ( as there was NO meeting in December due to Christmas supper on meeting date)

2. Treasurer’s report given

3. Old business – T-Shirts – Jim K. checked out 2 other promo shops in town & found no one to beat the Elite estimate ..It sounds like we will go with Elite.

Jim is to pursue all the trailer sponsors/advertisers for their 2014 fee.. So far Showtime Resto. & Precision Perf. have paid for 2014 crusin season, four more advertisers to receive from.. If any members have someone who wants to come on board and advertise/sponsor our trailer, the fee is $250.00 if they supply their company decal ( 2 ) or it is $280.00 if we have to have their decal made/provided for the trailer. Then it is only $100.00 yearly to keep their advertising on our club’s trailer…

Swap Meet idea was discussed, Jim to check into a couple of locations & provide info on those areas next meeting. NO other members have come forth with locations or ideas as of yet. Feb meeting to be a final decision on the idea…

The Club Raffle is under way, close to 70% of the members have rec’d their books of tickets. Prices are $2.00 ea. OR 3 for $5.00..The prizes are a 1955 Pedal car ( Aqua/white if we can get it in that color), 1957 full size nose piece wall hanging, & a $100.00 gas gift card.. The executive REALLY would like to have ALL MEMBERS to sell a Book of tickets or even better sell more.. See Jim for your Ticket Book (s)..

Draw Date is @ Bowties vs the World on August 23rd..

March Red Deer SwapMeet on Mar.22 we require to send in $$ for a club table.. And we Require helpers for all the “meets” that we will be at !!!

Confirmed for the Antique BIG Swap meet in May- we have two Tables, the area is against the wall, so we can bring the club trailer out…

Waiting for the Drayton Valley Boys to give a date for their Swap meet..
The location that they have used in the past was recently damaged by having too much snow on the roof & the roof went BANG ! Down it went…

New Business con’t
Club elections for the executive are to be held at our February meeting @ BlackJack’s Roadhouse. Two positions are settled ( that being if no one wants to run for them), they the Club Prez & Club Treasurer.. Up for grabs is the Vice Prez.,the Membership director & the Club Secretary ( Much Needed )…

Website Hits for December were 828 hits… REMEMBER to all members to use the website for all your parts needs or to sell off any of your parts…We also need more membership photos of your Pride& Joy…

The 50/50 cash winner was Shawn G. & there were no 2nd prizes available.. If there are any members that would like to donate a item or items for our monthly door prizes, Please bring them out, ask your employer or maybe your own business would assist, THAT WOULD BE GREAT !!!!

Saskatoon Santa Claus Parade

  Well, The Saskatoon Santa Claus Parade was held on Nov 17. 6 - Saskatoon 567 Club vehicles made up our "float". Al Carlson, Jerry Demeria, Peter Gall, Jim Cruse, Garry Cherneske and Cliff Oviatt all had their cars there. The Davies Family was there in support and our 567 banner carriers. There was a nice gentle snow that fell most of the day. We had walkers,Nancy Cruse and Larry Crandell handing out candy to all the kids along the parade route. Not sure who had more fun, our members or the kids!! Our Club won best Motor Vehicles display for the parade. Thanks to all the members that brought their cars down and the members or spouses and friends that supported the parade and the club!

Annual Christmas Dinner with Pictures

The Edmonton & Area 567 2013 Christmas Dinner was held on Dec 4th @ Black-Jack’s Roadhouse, The food was superb!! and the Fellowship was terrific!

  There was the Regular 50/50 draw, which the winners were : 
Cash Draw – Laurie Cornish, 
Christmas wine Kit – Bernie McIvor ( prize donated by Diamond Trucks) 
1957 Chevy Tin Sign- Daymion Weiss ( Donated by Amand Lindgren).. 

There were 13 gifts up for draw for all those in attendance also.. Special thanks goes out to Don Cornish for setting up this outing for the Club..

     A special moment had occurred when the Car Club members recognized the efforts of Richard Wheatley , Don Cornish & Jim Kennedy. These fellows have contributed over many years to the support &
efforts to the Edmonton & Area 567 Club .. A very touching moment!
  Please note: in the award picture presentation, Daymion Weiss( our V.P) accepted the award for Richard Wheatley as Richard was unable to attend, But Jim ( Perogy Prince) & Don ( Da’ Cranberry Guru) were there!!
