There are some activities are suggested for the winter months beside our monthly socials, they are another visit to the Classic car Museum on 51 Ave. and a road trip to Farley's Dyno shop in the West end.. Just to name a few, bring more ideas to our attention at our December 7 meeting.

the deadline to receive a ballot and return it is at the November meeting as it was noted in the Sept. minutes.. Just to remind everyone what the award is all about, it is given to a club member that displays the many                                                                                               attributes that Bernie had displayed..    The Edmonton & Area 567 Club September 7, 2022 Minutes
                                                                                             start time 7:05 p.m    end 8:20 p.m    13 members present

Open the meeting with August minutes reviewed with those present & minutes were accepted by all present.
Treasurer's report was given & all is ok with our Account, All members present accepted the report..

There are some current changes to our executive, till elections are held January..
Please welcome Armand L. as our new club secretary & the club V.P position is " up in the air " so to speak, discussion on this topic will be held at the October meeting..

The members also discussed the areas of donation to various groups and what we could donate, due to "drop" in award classes/sponsors and the low car count at our event.
We have more or less approved that 4 groups would receive no less than $500.00 from us, they are Be Brave Ranch, Edmonton Autism group, Win House and Boys & Girls club of Edmonton.

For the 1st time since we had presented this event,( that is 20yrs presenting this event) the club account was used to cover some areas, the sum of $640.00 was required...
There are NO outstanding bills to cover to date.

The club will be at the RED DEER Swap meet in October, representing our group and promoting the club..
A get well card was sent to Dean Yardley ( fellow member ), who had a very serious incident, Speedy Recovery Dean !!!!!

As was noted before the August event, Jim is "stepping away" from the total organization of "Bowties vs the World.. He has been organizing this event since it started in 2000 but will assist whoever in                           getting the needed sponsors for our classes in the future..

Some brief discussion on Winter activities for our group were "passed around" but nothing set... It is time to put our "babies" away for the winter and some ideas on how to store them was discussed..

A couple of items to be discussed also at the October meeting is Ballots for the " Bernie McIvor " ( this is presented yearly to a member that displays the same passion that Bernie displayed for our club),
Ballots will be handed out at the October meeting and the result will be made secretly in November so that we can get the award completed for the Annual Christmas gathering... Speaking of the Christmas gathering, the group has to decide when and where to have it.. Discussions are slated for the October meeting...

 September events :
 Sept. 17 - Dovercourt Community hall S/S
  Sept. 11 - Refinery Grill S/S

May Minutes

The Edmonton & Area 567 Club May Minutes     May 4/2022
               7 p.m Start                                            14 members

April minutes were covered and all members present passed them..
The treasurer's report was given & the account is in V. Good standing... Event sponsorship is 95% complete... Thank-you !!!!

Discussion on continuning the Saturday "mixers" was brought forward, BUT Since the weather is turning for the good
the club will hold a BBQ sometime soon, when a date is selected.

Some of the April minutes have been non-recorded, so some of the meeting coverage are "iffy"..  OOPS !!!
Like to welcome Don McGowan and Jim Phelan to the club !! I know a couple more signed on but there names are misplaced.. We should be at the 40 + membership mark !
As of this print all but one has signed on as a sponsor for the Bowties vs the World S/S.. This should be solved at the June meeting.

The price to have t-shirts done for the event is much too high for us to cover, so the mug idea has come forth.. The event logo on the mug and on the other side
the NAPA logo imblazed.. This is 1/3 the cost for these to be done compared to the t-shirt costs.. Waiting for NAPA to respond to this idea... If not maybe we go in it alone...
The Rock n Roll band idea is undecided, they have not contacted Jim about appearing... So a D.J has been hired for the event, he has been with us for many years..
Just waiting till July to contact some Eskimo alumni or Golden Bear players to join us for the "pie eating" contest.

Event volunteers will be required but we won't know for sure how many and where they will be needed as of yet.

Vendor ROW is NOW taking participants, only display charge is to provide a door prize...

The last time we had the event, before Covid, there was 8 vendors.. If you know someone that would be interested, have them contact the club or Jim..
April 13 the club was asked to "show off" some "rides" at Harry Ainley H.S during the lunch hour... Roy Marko brought out Craig's '57, Gene Boiverst brought his '56 wagon and Jim brought out his '55..
The kids loved it & teachers too ( see attachment )
June 16/22 is the day for a club tour to the Classic car museum " Yesterdays Classics" , WE NEED 15 or more to show up !! Contact Jim to confirm..
Norm has slated June 11 for a "Garage Sale" event, more to info to come at the June meeting.. contact Norm or Wade to get a spot..

Parts For Sale or Required

April Meeting

The Edmonton & Area 567 Club April minutes
                                     7 p.m start                                           14 members

The March meeting minutes were reviewed and approved by all present.
The treasurer's report was given and $$$ in the account is looking good, one debt and paid for the 3 member club memorial plaque..

The members presented a motion to pay half of the expenses to Jim for Hotel & fuel to the Red Deer Swap meet on behalf of the club..

Our Saturday afternoon Mixers have been rather well attended except for the Easter week-end mixer... The one set-up for May will be discussed
at our May meeting.. If weather is good we can hold one outside ( BBQ style) & cruise..

  B vs W update :
All but two award sponsors ( as of this print ) have paid up, and, once all have been paid then we can work on the event poster.. We must list all our sponsors for the event on the poster, of course !!
Three of the ideas to celebrate our 20th anniversary event is to have souvenir done and coffee/ beer mugs produced.. The costs are really too high for the shirts and the mugs are 1/3 the cost to be produced..
either concept will have our event on the front and our major sponsor ( NAPA Auto Parts ) on the rear.. Decision to be made at the May meeting..
Plus to have a rock n roll band to play for 90 mins. is still in the works, Jim to meet with band members soon to discuss the $$$$ & if the cost is too much for us to handle...
As in the past the club account is not to be affected, Hence we need a sponsor for example, to have the band.. If not feasible, we can revert to having a D.J all day long for a lot cheaper..
Too early to ask but there have been a couple of High end Drag racers expressing interest in bring their  cars out for display..
Also Jim looking into the idea of persuading some  Esks (Oops Elks) to join in the "pie eating" contest or some U of A Golden bears...
It is early But Volunteers are always needed ..

COME OUT TO THE MAY MEETING SHARE SOME IDEAS &  BONUS WE WILL WATCH THE OILER'S PLAYOFF GAME ON THE LARGE SCREEN AFTER THE MEETING !!!!!!!
