Important Show and Shine Update:
Due to the CURRENT ongoing Covid-19 variant Issues, the 20th Annual “Bowties vs the World” Charity Show n Shine has been postponed again.. All our sponsors involved with our event have given their support on this decision.. We truly REGRET is decision But we want the Best event and to have everyone safe.
We are currently looking at late August 2022 to hold this event.. Please keep our event in yours plans for 2022.. Stay healthy and be safe..
July Minutes
The monthly general meeting for the Edmonton & Area 567 club was held on July 7 at our new car club Clubhouse located upstairs at the National RV siding building.. There were 17 members present and all were quite impressed with the new “digs”, thanks to Norm....
This was the first in house meeting held since the Covid 19 “crap” started...
We did not get too “heavy” on some issues, One of the main topics discussed was the 20th annual “ Bowties vs the World” Charity Show n Shine, we will NOT present this car show again this year, what with the uncertainly of the Pandemic plus all the variants going around, the main sponsors & our many associate sponsor feel that given one more year, we all may be “clear” of this virus.. Another issue was the up & down attitude of AHS on this major pandemic, and it was felt by all involved that it is best to hold off till the “Coast” is clear... Safety to everyone is #1.
We are looking at the end of August 2022 to hold this event...There will be more info on this event as we get closer to August 2022..
The car club’s bank account is healthy , there are still some current members that have not paid the 2021 membership dues, I personally want to THANK all of you that have paid already ( this assists the club on taking care of monthly $$$ costs) and we welcome all your support...
The Emmanus Lutheran church held there annual Show n Shine on July 18 at their church, the Edmonton & Area 567 club was well represented ( Brian C, Armand L, Norm M & Jim. K ). A early report was that the $$$ raised was around $1300.00 for the church operation.. The club has donated a cheque for $200.00 to the ESRA for their upcoming show n shine, this is a 2nd year that we have been involved..
If anyone has any Tri-5 articles that they want to donate to our clubhouse, do give Norm a call ...
Craig S. has his ‘57 Chevy completed with the help from Roy M. It does look good... Norm has purchased a 1934 Ford hot rod & ya I said a Ford but it is all “tricked “ out with latest Hi-performance goodies and has a warmed up 350 cu.in Chevy power plant.. It is a nice “ride”....
Going back to our Clubhouse, there is a shuffle board table & pool table, plus a large kitchen area, so we will host a couple of tourneys in the winter time.. There is some club cruises in the works and if anyone has other ideas, let’s hear from you....The “Bernie McIvor” award has a 3 member panel ( Don C, Armand L. & Pat W.). The award will be presented at the end of 2021 and this award is given to a member that displays the support, enthusiasm & club spirit that defined Bernie.. These gentlemen will make their selection at that time..
Speaking of awards, Roy M. was presented with a $50.00 Gift card for his winning the inhouse participation award for 2020.. All you have to do is come out to a meeting, and if possible bring you “ride’ out ( that will add extra points ).. Winner at the end of the calendar year..
The new kids on the block, so to speak ( Lordco auto parts) have not yet notified us on having our group at their grand opening or being a award sponsor at “Bowties vs the World”.. Once a decision has been made, you will be informed..
Jim K. & his ’55 Chevy represented the club along with 13 other groups at the SVAA antique car special day , which was held at the Railway Museum, just North of town.. The Province and SVAA have proclaimed that July 9 as antique car day in the province of Alberta...
A fellow club member is having a good time running his ’55 Chevy gasser at Area 53 dragstrip / Forestburg AB. He has a strong running ’55 gasser.. Good job Mark B... Keep it up, eh....
Next meeting is on August 4 at 7 p.m @ 14305-121A-Ave National RV siding..
In the mean time, be safe !!
Jim

Jue Minutes and MORE!!!
The June meeting was once again effected by the Covid-19 issue..
Not much to report, basically the same scenio as the May meeting, a few of us went over to Rockin Robins for a bite, But the July meeting is to be in house, is sounding promising.. Please check on info on the website for this....
The outdoor Quicktimes Swap meet was different, lots of interest in our club... Norm has thoughts of building a ’55 gasser... I do hope to see many of you on July 7/2021..
Until then, stay safe !!!
Jim

May Minutes
Edmonton & Area 567 club May Minutes
May 5/2021 12 members present
There isn’t much to talk about, this current status with the up and down Covid situation makes it almost impossible to hold any type of meeting.. About a dozen of us met at Norm’s shop, then proceeded to the 149 St A&W to just socialize and swap info.. Lots of members are just itching to get out and cruise as a group, we are working on it.
The current club account is at $6000.00, Still no new time line for a our 20th Bowties vs the World Show n Shine.. It may have to wait till all this Covid crap is over and we can get back to the ”good old days” so to speak..
We lost the NAPA sponsorship over this Covid thing & Mr. Mike Larouque has been relocated within the company ( I would like to Thank Mike for his all his help to our event for the past 2 yrs.) ..
Jim as asked some of our event sponsors, if they are still able to come and help us out.. Those that he contacted indicated that they would be back.. Which is GREAT news.. A new kid on the block so to speak is ,Lordco Auto parts, they have been approached as a event sponsor but No news from their front as of yet... Jim passed out to those who came out at the May 5 meeting a little gift from the club.. There are many more to pass out but you have to come to a meeting to get yours.. Even though we have a good numbers in the club account, the club STILL Requires some members to pay their yearly dues, which helps the club in several club operational functions..
Many members that still have to pay up, You know who you are !!!! At our next meeting on June 3rd, we will be requiring these fees from the members.. It is only $25.00 per year... Just in case we have “lost” some sponsors for our B vs W event, the club account will have to cover the these lost costs.. So PLEASE pay your Yearly Dues.... One of our long time members is slated for a serious heart operation in May, Our Prayers and thoughts are for him.. God speed Don!!!
PLEASE WELCOME our new members to the club, from Leduc Alberta, they are Garry and Cheryl Vanduesburg..
Hopefully we can get to-gether at June’s meeting, the phase 2 of the Covid protocol should be in place for all of us law abieting folk.. The next meeting/gathering is at Norm’s shop, 14305-121A-Ave @ 7 p.m.. June 3rd/2021...
Then we will cruise over to the 149 St A&W for a social thingy if the phase 2 is not in place and we cannot hold a meeting at Norm’s.. A new date & time for the Quick times swap meet, June 12 OUTSIDE the Westerner Building from 8 a.m to 2 p.m.. NOTE : Set-up is ONLY from 5 a.m till 8 a.m...
PLEASE SUPPORT YOUR CAR CLUB !!!!!
Be safe, Stay healthy !!!
4/20/21
March/ April Minutes
The March 3 meeting was an executive only meeting held had Norm’s new “digs”.
There was a discussion on how the Covid-19 virus was affecting our group.. if you remember during the 2020 season the Car Club was recording attendance at our monthly meetings and scoring was made on such things as member attendance, bringing their “ride” out to meetings and general participation at club events... After all the “recording” the winner was Roy M., who narrowing beat Jim K. at the end.. A gas card on behalf of the club will be presented to Roy for his prize... I was decided to have a special award to be given out to a club member on behalf of fellow member, Bernie McIvor (Dubbed the Edmonton & Area member of distinction award), a panel of 3 will decide who receives this and NO executive will be on the panel. We are looking for 3 members to serve on the panel, please let Jim know if you would like to be part of this.. This is a special club award in Bernie’s memory and will be presented towards the end of the year by either Karen McIvor or one of Bernie’s children.. The executive has planned a April social and cruise to the 149 St A & W for the April 7 meeting.. Wade will contact the members on his list via e-mail on the plans...
The club account is good but could be better so PLEASE renew your membership ASAP to help with club operations...
PLEASE SUPPORT YOUR CAR CLUB...
The April meeting – A total of 16 members participated in the April 7 cruise to the 149 St A & W.
The idea was well received by all who came out.. It started at Norm’s shop at approx.. 7 p.m and proceeded to the “DUB”.. Jim K. missed this social due to family commitments in B.C and did not get back in town in time... If the current Covid protocols by AHS are still in place for the May 5 meeting, we will plan another cruise/social.. Wade will contact via e-mail all the members on his list.. The Quick Times Swap meet has been rescheduled for June 12, due to Covid issues.. This will be a outdoor event from 8 a.m till 2 p.m.. If you have any questions, please contact Don MacGowan at Quick Times to address them.. The club will be there again as usual.. Hopefully all this Covid crap will be over soon and we can resume our ways...
As was noted in the March notes, we require members to renew their memberships ASAP, PLEASE !!
Be safe & stay healthy
3/15/21
Feb Exec Meeting
Due to the AHS Covid-19 protocols we did not have a general meeting but the Club’s executive did meet up for a meeting. The club will be at the RED DEER Swap meet again. There still is Interest in our club & is growing.
Discussed was the Spring Swap Meet in Sherwood Park, slated for April 17, it was decided to CANCEL any plans for one, what with all the Covid-19 protocols still in place & the limitation of vendors/shoppers this would certainly cause a problem.
We are still working on having our 20th annual “Bowties vs the World” Show N Shine, to be held on August 28, we are just waiting to hear a response from the Good Folks @ NAPA and from the many award sponsors on their support of our show.. If the response is not in our favor, we will look to hold it in 2022.
The Executive meeting is slated for March sometime and we hopefully wish to have a Monthly meeting for all members in April.
A reminder to all members that the 2021 Club dues are NOW BEING ACCEPTED, please sent them in.. We have had to purchase the insurance package for this year to cover all the members partaking in Club functions for this year and we have to replenish the bank account.
REMEMBER SUPPORT YOUR CLUB!!!!
Keep safe & hopefully we will get together SOON!
Jim
