March meeting minutes were read by Interm Prez. Jim K. & accepted by all present.

Treasurer’s report was given & club account is very strong… Report was accepted by all present as well.

Discussion on SVAA club insurance was addressed & widely accepted by all present. Edmonton and Area 567 Club saves money on this policy.
Our 3rdSwap meet was addressed & the aid of members to help in this event was well received. We require help on move in day from 1-9 p.m & area set-up (10.a.m Friday) plus at the admission gate, raffle spot, door security & relief in those areas for event date. Armand L. again has his church to donate 25 tables for the event, the club will donate $100.00 to the church for the use of their tables.

The A & W Rootbear to appear & the Global TV helicopter to fly over the venue before 10 a.m to aid in promotion of this event.

The club raffle is doing well after the Red Deer swap meet (100 tickets sold) & Jim asked all members that have raffle books,to please sell their share to make this successful for the benefit of the club.. They are Only $2.00 a ticket !!!
The special offer from A&W for their “VIP” promotion was accepted by the members present & Jim has sent in the info from our membership to them for the promo cards.

Discussion on applying for a Grant from either the City or the province was “touched on” for support to next year’s Show n shine (our 20thyear). More to come on this topic. Rebecca & Jim are selected to work on this concept.

The club will be at the Stony Plain Swap meet to promote the club & sell raffle tickets at the club booth.

Bowties vs the World:
August 24 is the date @ NAPA’s main store (111-Ave/172 St). Sponsorship opportunities for several awards are now being accepted.. Most of our past sponsors are returning & many thanks to them. We also require door prizes as well. The event poster is to be completed when ALL sponsors are accepted.. The Cruise calendar has our event in it already. The registration fee remains the same and if Jim can get the award production cost at the same price as last year, that award cost will not change for the award sponsors.

Club calendar 2020:
Norm & Jim are working this concept, supported by all members (featuring their vehicles) discussion at the next meeting. Date & place for photo shoot should be finalized.. The possibility of using “models” on the shoots was also discussed, as is the Pro photographer to be used.. Last year was a “feeler’ for the idea & there is a large number of businesses with interest in being on this project for this year’s calendar..

Club jackets & Assorted Swag;
There is a large number of members interested in purchasing a club jacket (spring & summer style) plus the club has to get some club t-shirts as the current supply is getting low. Jim to get some prices & report at next meeting..
The Western Canada 567 meet:

Swap Meet Results

April 20 was the date for the Edmonton & Area 567 Club Charity Swap meet, held at Millennium Place in Sherwood Park.

There were 66 vendors who took part and a gate count of close to 600 swap meet shoppers, looking for that special deal or part, and it looks like everyone had a great time- including our A&W bear. The club did well at the gate with a little over $3,000.00 taken in and even the venue rental was taken care from the event itself.

No major costs from the club account were needed.

These are just a few pics taken were taken during the event. Hopefully we will have another one a year from now. It all depends on the membership’s direction on this event.

I think we did well & to all members that came out to help on Move In day and at the Swap Meet itself, Thank you  for all your help!

Jim

Club Insurance:

As was reported earlier, we have changed our Insurance policy to what the SVAA offers from the Competition Insurance policy that we have had for many years.. The reason is cost, we got the same coverage thru SVAA cheaper that what Competition Ins. required (Competition Ins. is now a Wayfarer Ins. Partner) for a lot less.. Plus any event that the club holds is covered by the SVAA program & is listed in their monthly newsletter .. Bernie M. represented the club in Lethbridge at the SVAA spring meeting & our club was well received by all present..

CLUB MEMBERSHIPS :

They are now due, only a handful of 2018 members have to renew, contact Norm M. or Jim K. for renewal..

Contact Jim K. if you can help.. Areas requiring help are admission gate, raffle ticket booth, move-in helpers & some general assignments.. Armand L. once again can get 25 tables for his church (these are optional at a cost of $12.00 each).. As of this print we have half of the spots are confirmed for vendors space. Bowties vs the World 2019: The event is August 24 @ the Main NAPA store.. The idea to apply for a grant thru Travel Alberta or the City of Edmonton for the 2020 edition has been brought forward.. More on this as the year moves on, right now we have to “focus” on the 19 th Annual Show n Shine for this summer… All members present accepted this idea & voted to proceed on this..

Raffle tickets:

Most of the members present picked up their raffle ticket book(s) at this meeting.. The plans are to sell tickets at various swap meets this spring & to have the members sell them to whoever they know.. Tickets are only $2.00 each & 1000 tickets were printed.. The final draw will be at the August 24/2019 Show n Shine.. Swap meets: The club will be at the Quick Times Swap meet on March 30, the Stony Plain swap meet on April 27 & of course our very own on April 20.. The Western Canada Meet in Saskatoon Sask. On July 11-14/2019.

Some members are planning to attend, word has it that hotel accommodations are “pretty scarce”.. So hurry if you can. Contact Brian C. for more info.. It seems like the club will be well presented at this event.. The Edmonton Street Rod Assoc. annual car show is slated for June 22.
