A Walk Down Memory Lane

Throughout the years of 1955,1956 and also 1957 many changes altered the way that we look at our classic chevy's today. These three years had to have been the best three years in chevy history all together. The years pervious to these three years chevy was big but not as big and as popular as it would be after its big change in 1955 and it's continuous change through the years to come.

Now you are about to travel through time back to the good ole days in Chevy History.

1955

Now here you are back in 1955 where it all started. This was the first year that Chevy introduced it's new body style and also the classic V-8 Engine. The 1955 chevy was loved and is still loved by all who know their cars. The"Turbo Fire" V-8 is what was introduced to Chevy back in this year it was meant to create more power in the average car but still make the car a family car. When the "Turbo Fire" arrived it had 8:0:1 compression ratio and a rated 162 horse power with two- barrel carburetor. Now to add more power to this wonderful new found power the "super Turbo Fire" V-8 was introduced. It came with a new 195 horse power.

Now onto the year that is known as the hot one. Now one of the big changes that was made to this car was the grill. Chevy had decided to change it's grill to add more class more style and also create more sales. In this year more 56's were sold then '55's were sold the year before. The 56' was the fist of the chevy's to have the famous " Duntov" cams, lightweight valves and larger intake and exhaust passages. The house power in these cars was at about 225 at 5200rpm.

Now we turn to the one that is the most popular today for restoration and also known as the Ultimate Classic Chevy. In 57' Chevy gave it's cars a face lift again and also added more power to it's already famous V-8 engine. The engine had 283 horse power and "Ramjet" fuel injection. The famous headline that became attached to this car was "1 house power per cubic inch." a good example of this one to one ration would be 283 cubic inch V-8 with fuel injection and 10.5 to 1 compression ration had 283 horse power.
